Karen Mills

Hawthorne Lane was founded by Karen Mills, a Maryland native and seasoned direct-hire recruiter who has more than ten years’ experience serving the Washington, DC, and San Francisco markets.

After graduating from Indiana University, Karen started her career recruiting for law firms and corporate legal departments at TRAK Legal in Washington, DC. Eager to diversify her skills and experience life in the Bay Area, Karen moved to San Francisco and placed executive-level accounting and finance professionals with Parker & Lynch. She then worked for the next four years at Career Group successfully recruiting for high-level Executive Assistant positions with Fortune 500 companies, venture capital and private equity firms, management consulting firms, technology start-ups, and other professional services organizations.

Karen relocated back to her hometown of Washington, DC, to be closer to family and to open Hawthorne Lane, the recruiting firm she always dreamed of working for: a dynamic, progressive, and fun company with a focus on using new and improved recruiting methods to do great work.

Andrea Solomon

Andrea began her career in recruiting directly after graduating from Virginia Tech. She spent her early years with a firm in Richmond, VA recruiting administrative talent for corporations and law firms. Andrea then relocated back to the DC area where she grew up, and joined a firm specializing in legal and administrative support placement. Not long thereafter Andrea was promoted to lead the office’s recruiting and business development operations. Andrea is passionate about helping candidates find the right-fit position while helping clients acquire the very best talent.

Hawthorne Lane’s mission and focus is a perfect match with Andrea’s proven experience in serving the needs of candidates and clients in the DC market. Andrea was drawn to Hawthorne Lane’s distinctive culture - built upon a foundation of strong values and ethics and a disciplined recruiting methodology.

Meghan Dofflemyer

Meghan is a graduate from Virginia Tech with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing Management. While there, Meghan served as Vice President of Communication and President of her sorority, Sigma Kappa. After graduating and moving home to Washington, DC, she worked as an Account Manager with a fashion company before transitioning to her position as a Recruiting Associate with Hawthorne Lane.

It was through Meghan's many experiences in leadership that she realized her passion for serving as a mentor to those around her. She enjoys assisting the Washington, DC professional community with shaping their careers and achieving their goals. Meghan's background and keen eye for design has also played an essential role in the development of Hawthorne Lane's social media accounts.

Megan Gallo

Megan is a graduate of University of Richmond with dual degrees in Leadership Studies and Political Science. After graduation, she worked as a Paralegal for several years before transitioning into legal recruiting and business development. In her current role as a Senior Search Director with Hawthorne Lane, Megan is an expert in sourcing, screening and placing top administrative and legal talent. She is a trusted resource for candidates and clients, and with over ten years of industry experience in the Washington, DC market, she has the ability to provide support for candidates seeking the perfect next step in their careers.

It is Megan’s passion for matchmaking and identifying talent that has played an essential role in her success. Her positivity, dedication and commitment has assisted her candidates and clients in reaching their professional goals and staffing needs.

Ellie Darcey

Ellie is a Virginia native and graduate from the University of Mississippi as a Journalism major with a specialization in Public Relations and an English minor. After graduating, Ellie returned to Virginia to start her career in recruiting.

Ellie was drawn to Hawthorne Lane's friendly and team-oriented office culture. She supports the firm's Co-Founders, Andrea & Karen, in addition to providing team and special project coordination for the office.

Gabrielle Risi

Gabrielle is a born and raised Virginian and graduate from Christopher Newport University with a degree in Spanish, and minors in Political Science and Leadership. Gabrielle began her recruiting career at TRAK Legal shortly after graduation, where she specialized in legal and administrative support positions. After relocating to Florida in 2015, Gabrielle worked in a remote capacity for Treliant Risk Advisors, spearheading the firm's high-volume recruiting projects.

Gabrielle was drawn to Hawthorne Lane's values-based methodology, unwavering moral compass, and is excited to work in a firm where she is encouraged to be an honest and trusted confidant to candidates and clients. She understands that job searching is fundamental, yet personal, and is excited to serve again as a career counselor to candidates in the DC/Metropolitan region.
